No Whining Allowed

Seriously, I mean it, stop whining. You want to know how to increase your SCUBA business but you don’t want to do anything to increase your SCUBA business. That’s doesn’t make any sense.

Recent Conversations

I’ve had a few emails recently going back and forth with potential clients that go something like this:

Them: I want  to use the internet to increase business for my SCUBA store/classes.

Me: Okay, you need to do X, Y and Z.

Them: Well that sounds like a lot of work, isn’t there an easier way?

Me: *sound of head smacking against a wall*

If you’ve ever heard the comment “you get out of it what you put into it”, NOW IS A GOOD TIME TO BELIEVE IT.

My Workflow

I’m going to share with you my workflow for promoting MY SCUBA business (keep in mind, I work a more-than-full-time day job and have a very social life).

  1. Research SCUBA-related topics (<45 minutes)
  2. Write about SCUBA-related topic (<30 minutes)
  3. SCUBA-related content gets automatically pushed out to my Facebook Page and a weekly email newsletter
  4. Connect with people on Facebook and Twitter discussing SCUBA (30 minutes/day)
  5. Check statistics (<10 minutes)

So all said and done, I’m spending no more than 2 hours a day promoting my business. Most days it’s closer to an hour. I’m sharing this because once your systems are in place, promoting your local business online takes very little time or effort.

Do You Have an Hour?

If SCUBA is really your business and/or livelihood, I strongly encourage you to find an hour or two a day to build your business. Even if you pay someone to set everything up for you, you are in the YOU business and you need to devote some time to selling yourself.

Can you find a spare hour a day to build your business?

(This isn’t designed to be a rant, but instead a reminder that for those of you who want to work in the SCUBA industry, it is work. Enjoyable work, but work nonetheless.)
