SCUBA Equipment Manufacturers: What Are YOU Doing to Reach Non-Divers?

I hope we can all admit that marketing to existing SCUBA diving individuals is low hanging fruit. SCUBA diving stores and independent SCUBA instructors are constanty working to find non-divers, but why aren’t the manufacturers doing anything?

Where Has Cross Promotion Gone?

I remember years ago being told one of the benefits of DEMA and their members is that they spend marketing dollars on cross promotion. Back in 1999 or 2000 I saw Honda CR-V print ads with SCUBA gear filling the back. For the last two years, I have been looking closely for these types of SCUBA marketing, but I only see SCUBA equipment advertised in SCUBA industry publications.

I’ll be at DEMA in two very short weeks and I promise this will be one of the main questions I’ll be asking, so have your answers ready.
